What to Look For in a Before and After

Every tree company posts photos. Most of them show the same thing: a tree, then no tree. That is not actually the useful part. When you are looking at anyone's gallery, including ours, here is what tells you whether the crew knew what they were doing.

Look at the ground in the after photo

Raked, blown, and clear, or churned up with ruts and a layer of chips and stobs left behind. The cleanup is the part you live with after everyone drives away, and it is the single best indicator of how a company works.

Look at what was standing next to the tree

A tree in the middle of an open field is not a hard job. A tree six feet off a roof line, over a fence, or between a shed and a neighbor's driveway is a completely different piece of work, and the after photo showing that fence still straight is the actual proof.

Look at the stump

A flush cut ground below grade and backfilled looks finished. A knee high stump left in the lawn means the job stopped halfway. If a gallery never shows the stump, that is worth noticing.

Look at what is left of the tree next to it

On a trimming job, a good result still looks like a tree. If the after photo shows bare stubs and a flat top, that is topping, and it damages the tree and creates weak regrowth that becomes your problem in a few years.

Everything on this page was photographed on a property in the Lehigh Valley by the crew that did the work. None of it is stock photography and none of it was bought from a photo library, which is worth saying because a great deal of what you will find on tree service websites is exactly that.

Tell us at the estimate and we will photograph the property before we start and again when we finish, and send them to you along with the invoice. It costs nothing and it is a lot easier than trying to reconstruct what a tree looked like after it is gone.

How big of a tree can you take down?

Bigger than most people expect. Between climbing and our bucket truck we handle tall trees, leaners, and trees tight against a house or the power lines. If a tree is beyond what we can do safely, we tell you at the estimate.

Do you clean up when the job is finished?

Always. Brush, limbs, and debris get hauled off, and we leave the yard cleaner than we found it. If you want the wood cut for firewood or the chips left for mulch, they are yours.
